Week two

This week we will be looking at the Zentangles you created and ideas for themes.
We will then be using this work to inspire printing.

You will need to bring with you a sketchbook, pencil, pens, black polystyrene pizza base, tools with which you can make an impression with on the polystyrene.

Homework: This week we will be looking at Notan. It is the Japanese theory of Positive and Negative, light and dark. Experiment with cutting shapes from the square and flipping them out to expand your design. Have a look on line at other artist examples and this link to a great video.

Week One

Week 1
21 September - Introductions

This week we will talk about the course requirements and get to know each other. We will also talk about equipment and the overall schedule.

Handouts
Electronic version of the course guide - this will be provided in hardcopy at the session.

Home activity (for after the session)
'Zentangles'- continue with your work from the session. Have a look on the internet at other artists work.

'Themes' - start to collect images that you like from magazines, postcards or photographs

Equipment for this session
You will need to bring a notebook and pen, felt-tip pens or coloured pencils, (or watercolour paints, brushes, water pot etc.); a pencil, and your sketchbook.
